It is another early start as we board our train to Mongolia.
This time it is a Mongolian train. No restaurant carriage, just as well we got food from the supermarket. The train was a little more run down than the Russian train but it was clean and comfortable.
The countryside is flat and cold. The lakes are still frozen and we see the occasional fisherman leaning over an ice hole.
We passed a remote military airport
Small industrial towns pass our window
At 1 pm the train stopped at a small passport town, but the officials would not collect the passports until 5pm. It was 7pm before we got them back. And of course the toilets on the train were locked the whole time. Fortunately there was one in the station, but of course everyone on the train wanted to use it. So we sat there and drank tea.
We travelled all night
