Our guide picks us up after breakfast and we drive for an hour to a 300 year old village. It has been preserved as a historical Siberian village.
Quite
a few years ago a local village man (back from WW1) started to collect items of
the locals heritage – farm implements, examples of crafts, current soviet
posters, clothing et etc until this collection grew into a local museum which
included 3 other buildings dotted around the village. One of these was a local
home which had not changed in about 80 years. The owner ‘Katya’ moved to live
with her nephew when she was in her 90’s and the museum bought her place as is.
She was the 18th person to marry and move into this tiny one room shelter
– My God it was an eye-opener.
Katya's house was open to see just how they lived.
There is also a museum showing the history communism. Complete with folk singers singing about the glory of communism.
